Hello and welcome to my blog! You are fabulous.
This Psalm has really been awesome for me, and I just want everyone to hear it, bc it can be awesome for you. Whatever you believe, or don't believe, or wherever you are, or aren't, on your spiritual journey, that's cool. I'm not here to change what or who you are. I'm here to express myself, and hopefully share light and truth that resonate with you in ways that astound and sustain me.
I totally think God showed me this back in December. It just really resonated with me, and gave me energy, restoration and excitement in our Heavenly Father. You know what else is cool...it tells us that we do not have to go it alone. I was thinking today about in college how I remember now how I thought everything was up to me. Doing well (or just even going) to class, Ladies in Red, singing, working, interning, working out, modeling, whatever it was, was all up to me. My education, success, friends, relationships, growth, mile time (or walk/run time) was something I totally relied on myself. What a draining thing! This Psalm reminds us that, hey, you aren't in this alone! You are not in this alone. Whatever battle, addiction, goal, suffering, or day you are facing-He's got your back! He's with you every step of the way, and watching out for you the entire time. It kind of blows my mind!
As for God, His way is perfect. The word of the Lord is flawless.
He is a shield for all who take refuge in Him.
31 For who is God besides the Lord? And who is the Rock except our God?
32 It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect.
33 He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he enables me to stand on the heights.
34 He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze.
35 You give me your shield of victory, and your right hand sustains me; you stoop down to make me great.
36 You broaden the path beneath me, so that my ankles do not turn
37 I pursued my enemies and overtook them; I did not turn back till they were destroyed
38 I crushed them so that they could not rise; they fell beneath my feet.
39 You armed me with strength for battle; you made my adversaries bow at my feet
I can't help but picture the movie 300 when I read this. Or Lord of the Rings, III, when they are getting ready to defend their town but they are totally outnumbered...you know what I'm talking about?! Epic moment. (Yes, I am a LOTR fan! Holler!) But I think this encompasses all kinds of epic battles we are fighting, all of us, whatever sword they engage. I am really thankful for our Father. I definitely am grateful for that reminder that He is with us and that we do not have to hold the shield alone, but that He is our shield. Every time I think I am in charge and can do it, well, He gracefully, or swiftly, reminds me, that nope. That's not sustainable. It's just not going to fly. It was not something I could accept overnight. It may take awhile, but I am thankful for these opportunities to lean on him.
A tangible example of how I think I can handle something or that it is up to me is my family. We care about people, especially those we love. It's hard to see people we love suffer and struggle. But it's not up to us to solve it. That also is a reflection of pride, thinking we can do it. But it's up to Him.
Thanks for checking out my first post! Peace out.
